HISTORY
G&G was founded in 1995, November 1st as a trading company
under the name G&G Audio/Video Services.
In addition to the sale of CQ cleaning tissues for video
heads and Kata camera bags, we tested professional Betacam-SP video cassettes for cameramen.
The quality testing of professional video cassettes became so
successful, that we
introduced the brandname Tape Check for this service. At the request of a few (commercial) private television
stations we also started to evaluate used Betacam cassettes for re-use and we started to develop a special standard to improve the quality and reliability of evaluated videocassettes.
During 1996 and 1997, in close cooperation
with a few special customers, we developed the quality control process of cleaning and testing videotapes according to "new" specification. This unique process is now
known as the “Tape Check” method:
every tape that passes the test free of
defects is ensured to provide at least the same quality as a new cassette and carries a GREEN sticker. In 1999, as John de Mol introduces "Big Brother" as the new
concept of Reality-TV, the re-use of video cassettes in the production of TV shows made a huge expansion. The incredible success of Reality-TV series opened the market in Europe and Tape Check Europe became the largest videotape recycling
company in the world. In 2007, in addition to
video cassettes, we also started to clean and test Professional XD-Cam discs for
re-use.
The success of Tape Check created also an increasing demand for a variety of storage media and accessories (such as batteries, gaffertape, etc.). These products made G&G
Audio/Video Services a successful distributor of all kinds of video related
consumables. With the acquisition of Quantegy Europe in 2005, the range was expanded with a complete line of well-known professional audio products. This also openend new markets in Eastern Europe, Middle
East and Asia.
In 2008 the name G&G A/V Services is changed into G&G Trading B.V. because the share of NON-audio/video products continues to increase.
On our general website www.spita.eu you can find the entire range of products. In the following years, G&G developed a number of ResQ-products under the name SPITA, which offer solutions and applications in areas where other products are less suitable. In 2018, the name G&G Trading B.V. is changed into SPITA Smart Products B.V. so that the website and product name are part of the company name. SPITA will continue to search for new products and solutions for its customers, in order to continue an important role in a rapidly changing world with the promiss to our customers that
