FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QHOW DOES SPITA RESQ-TAPE WORK?

ASPITA ResQ tape is self-fusing tape. The special silicone

construction with "cross-link" structure of the molecules provides a permanent bond of the layers when the tape is stretched and wrapped around an object. The layers will make contact with each other and will start fusing together.

QHOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A PERMANENT SEAL?

AThe tighter you wrap or stretch SPITA ResQ tape, the faster it will bond.

The fusing process starts as soon as two layers make contact and after a few minutes it will result in a permanent bond.

By using high quality raw materials, SPITA ResQ tape is the fastest fusing silicone tape on the market.

Q: AT WHICH TEMPERATURE CAN I APPLY THE TAPE?

A: SPITA ResQ-tape can be applied at temperatures ranging from -50°C up to +260°C. The fusing process works slow at low temperatures and faster with higher temperatures.

Q: IS THERE A SHELF LIFE OR SPECIAL STORAGE REQUIREMENTS?

A: When SPITA ResQ-tape is stored in the dark and a cool place, kept away from UV rays and heat sources, the shelf life is exeeding at least 10 years.
Once the tape is applied and fused it will be permanent UV resistant.

Q: HOW MUCH DO I NEED TO USE?

A: You always need to apply at least two layers, enabling the tape to fuse onto itself. This is usually sufficient to make a watertight insulating connection for e.g electrical wiring.
To seal a
pressure leak you need to start with two layers left or right from the leak. Continue with stretching the tape to its maximum and than continue to wrap the tape with 50% overlap. For each Bar of pressure at least one layer will be required (to achieve 8 Bar pressure resistance you need to apply at least 8 layers)
It works best when you apply multiple short pieces of tape instead of one long piece of tape.
The maximum pressure that the tape can handle depends on the type of product. See the specifications.

Q: NEED THE SURFACE TO BE CLEAN?

A: No. SPITA ResQ tape only sticks to itself. You don't need to clean the surface of the repair area. It is important to keep the tape as clean as possible during application. Dirt between the layers causes poor fusing. When the last bit of tape doesn't stick well (because it has become dirty from contact with your fingers), you can finish with the wrapping of an extra layer. BUT make sure that you FIRST clean your hands. This ensures that the tape does not get dirty again and will properly fuse together.

Q: ANY EXTRA CARE WITH PRESSURE LEAKS?

A: If possible turn off the pressure on the hose before applying the tape (you don't need to clean or dry the surface). When pressure can't be turned off, start applying the tape 5 centimeters before the leak and make sure that the tape is maximum stretched when applied. Continue wrapping the tape (stretch it to the maximum) with 2/3 overlap until 5 centimeters after the leak and continue wrapping backwards and forwards until you have a sufficient number of layers.

If the working space is narrow and there is not enough space to stretch the tape during wrapping, please act as follows:
Take the pressure off and wrap 4 or 5 layers of ResQ-tape on the area of the leak and stretch the tape only a little to ensure the layers will remain flat without wrinkles. Finish with adding a proper hose clamp and place this on top of the leak and make sure that you fit the clamp as tight as possible.

Q: WHICH SIDE OF THE TAPE
DO I USE?

A: After you have removed the protective layer (plastic liner) you can use SPITA ResQ-tape on both sides.

Q: WILL SPITA RESQ-TAPE COME OF AFTER SOMETIME?

A: If you have applied the tape in accordance with the user instructions, the different layers of SPITA ResQ tape will create a permanent bond with each other and become a permanent and stable structure (the different layers of silicone fuse into one permanent layer during the fusing process).
The layers you have applied can't separate from each other as they have become one solid layer. This is an unique feature of SPITA ResQ-tape.

Q: CAN I REMOVE SPITA RESQ-TAPE EASILY?

ASPITA ResQ tape can be removed with a utility knife or scissors. If the tape is cut, it will automatically be released from the surface. Because no adhesive is used in ResQ tape, no adhesive residues remain on the surface (as common with most other tapes).

Q: CAN I REPAIR MY POOL WITH SPITA
RESQ-TAPE?

ASPITA ResQ tape is self-fusing tape and works only by wrapping the tape around an object, so that the different layers can fuse with each other when they make contact with each other. The material does not contain any adhesive and will therefore NOT stick to a flat surface (such as the wall of a swimming pool or water tank).

Q:  HOW LONG WILL A REPAIR WITH SPITA RESQ-TAPE LAST?

ASPITA ResQ tape isn't developed for permanent repairs initially. However, thanks to the special properties, the repair will be permanent when the tape is applied correctly. However, it depends on the type of repair how long the repair can last. (if a gas leak is sealed, the repair is always an emergency solution due to the regulations by law or insurance companies).

SPITA ResQ tape remains permanently flexible and is UV resistant which is most important when used outdoor.

Q: WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT SPITA RESQ-TAPE?

AFor the manufacturing of SPITA ResQ tape, only high-quality and pure raw materials are used. The high quality is immediately apparent through the speed of fusing and the strength and durability of the fused material.
SPITA ResQ tape also has a much better resistance to aggressive substances, such as petrol, diesel, oil, acids and salts.

SPITA ResQ tape is also excellent for applications UNDER water !!!
